The journey allows you to experience glacier crossing, witness a high-altitude lake, and camp at tranquil pastures amidst the Karakoram mountains. Along the route, trekkers also enjoy views of Rakaposhi and Diran Peak, the renowned mountains in the area.

Diran Base Camp Trek begins at the serene Minapin village. Navigating through dense alpine forests, the trekkers arrive at Rakaposhi Base Camp, one of the prominent mountains in the vicinity. The trek further proceeds towards Diran pasture allowing trekkers to experience glacier crossing, navigating crevassed sections, and moraines before arriving at the base camp.

Itinerary - Diran Base Camp Trek

Day 01: International Arrivals and pick up from the airport.

Day 02: Drive to Naran or Chilas by road, 6 to 7 hours drive.

Day 03: Continue towards Nagar Valley, 6-7 hours drive.

Day 04: Trek towards the next Destination, Hapakun, 3 hours trek.

Day 05: Proceed onwards to Taghaphari, 3 hours trek.

Day 06: Diran Base Camp Trek, 4 hours trek including glacier crossing.

Day 07: Back to Taghaphari, 4 hours trek with glacier crossing.

Day 08: Drive to Hunza, Karimabad, rest and recover.

Day 09: Explore Altit, Baltit and Gojal.

Day 10: Drive to Pakistan China Border.

Day 11: Back in Islamabad by air.

Day 12: Leave for Home / international departures.

Detailed Itinerary - Diran Base Camp Trek

  • Day 01 | International Arrivals: Upon arrival, meet our representative at the airport. The day is free to enjoy the peaceful environment of the capital of Pakistan.
  • Day 02 | Drive to Naran or Chilas: Continue the journey by road towards Naran or Chilas. The participants can reach Gilgit via Naran/Babusar Pass, which remains open only during the summer months, typically from June to October, or drive along the Karakoram Highway to reach Chilas. Along the Naran route, you can enjoy beautiful alpine scenery, where mountains are filled with dense alpine trees and lush green vegetation.
  • Day 03 | Continue towards Nagar Valley: Make your way towards the next destination. Drive along the Karakoram Highway. Take a break and marvel at the three mountain junction points at Jaglot. The point from where the Himalayas stretch towards Nepal, Bhutan, and India, while the Hindu Kush points towards Chitral and Afghanistan, and the Karakoram extends. towards Skardu, Hunza, China, and India.
  • Day 04 | Trek towards the next Destination, Hapakun: On this day, embark on a scenic adventure deep in the Karakoram. Making your way through alpine setting meadows and climbing the steep mountain slope, arrive at the first campsite, Hapakun. Here, participants are welcomed with breathtaking views of the Rakaposhi Peak. After taking some rest, sip a warm cup of tea, looking at the marvels of Mother Nature.
  • Day 05 | Proceed onwards to Taghaphari: Following the scenic route passing through beautiful pastures, make your way to the Taghaphari campsite. The trek for the day is 3 hours long and does not require any special trekking skills, making it ideal for both families and adventure enthusiasts.
  • Day 06 | Diran Base Camp Trek: Rise early in the morning to witness the raw and untouched natural landscape of Taghaphari. The trek on this day offers a rare opportunity of experiencing a walk above the Kachali Glacier. After glacier crossing, the trail gradually gains elevation before arriving at the basecamp. Upon arrival, find yourself amidst beautiful pastures and meadows where sheep, goats, and other animals are seen freely strolling around, enjoying the fresh grass.
  • Day 07 | Back to Taghaphari: Wake up early and set off for a morning trek to Kachali Lake, a high-altitude alpine lake that locals believe was once visited by angels for bathing. After spending quality time at the Lake, head back towards Taghaphari crossing the Glacier one last time. Spent another night near the majestic Rakaposhi Peak.
  • Day 08 | Drive to Hunza, Karimabad: Pack up your gear and bid farewell to the awe-inspiring destination. Take a last look at the towering peak and beautiful glacier and head back to Hapakun. Continue the hike towards Minpin village and take a ride to Karimabad Hunza. Rest and recover from the long trek at Serena Hotel Hunza.
  • Day 09 | Explore Altit, Baltit, and Gojal: Apart from the trek, immerse yourself in the cultural richness of Hunza Valley. Begin the exploration from Baltit Fort, search for handicrafts, gemstones, and delicious dry fruits at Karimabad Bazar. Proceed further to Altit village and learn about the 900 -year- old fort. Drive ahead towards Gojal Valley, the upper part of Hunza. Explore the Attabad Lake, Passu Cones, Korgha Gulmit, Ondra Poyga, and Fort before heading towards the hotel for the night’s stay.
  • Day 10 | Drive to Pakistan-China Border: Complete your holiday by driving deep into the Karakoram. Navigate through a narrow gorge before arriving at the Khunjerab National Park. Observe wildlife, including ibexes, snow leopards, Himalayan brown bears, and marmots. Head back to Gulmit village for the night’s stay.
  • Day 11 | Back in Islamabad by air: Take a short yet scenic flight to Islamabad from Gilgit. Enjoy views of snow-capped peaks from the plane.
  • Day 12 | Leave for Home: Bid farewell to Pakistan with cherishing memories of Diran Base Camp Trek.

Initial Deposit, Book Now and Pay Later: To confirm the booking an initial deposit is required which is 20 - 25 % of the tour / trek price. The remaining payment can be paid closer to the trek dates or upon arrival in Pakistan.
