Chilam Joshi Festival is one of the three festivals celebrated by Kalasha People living in three main valleys of Chitral District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Chilam Joshi Festival is marked as the arrival of Spring, which serves both spiritual and social purpose.

Chilam Joshi Festival starts every year from May 13 and ends on May 17 and is celebrated with wearing new and vibrant cloths, performing different rituals including dancing, feasting and sacrificing to their Gods. Kalash Spring Festival, is one of the amazing festivals to experience in Pakistan.

There are three villages of the Kalasha Peoples:

  • Bumburet
  • Rumbur
  • Birir

Peoples from all three valleys come together to celebrate Chilam Joshi Festivall in Bumburet. Apart from Kalash festival Chilam Joshi, Uchal (summer festival) and Choimus (winter festival) are also celebrated in Kalash Valley.

Itinerary of Chilam Joshi Festival Kalash

Day 01: Islamabad airport-to-hotel transfer

The first day of Chilam Joshi Festival is just for our international guests. They will be taken from the airport to their hotels. If time allows, we will set up a day tour in Islamabad. We will visit these spots:

Day 02: Departure for Kalash valley.

Start your journey towards Chitral Valley to attend the Chilam Joshi festival. We will travel through Lower and Upper Dir and pass through the Lawari Tunnel. This tunnel connects Chitral Valley to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.

Day 04: Rumbur Kalash Valley, Spring Festival Day 2.

Day 02 of the mega festival of Kalash will feature a visit to Rumbur Valley. This valley is one of the most vibrant spots during the Chilam Joshi festival. The day will show glimpses of the tribe's daily life. Enjoy traditional music, colorful dances, and warm hospitality. By the end of the day, we will travel back to Ayun Valley for the night's stay.

Day 06: Departure for Islamabad

Day 07: Airport drop-off for our international guests.
