Rush Lake Trek - Overview

The Rush Lake trek is a high-altitude trekking journey in the Nagar Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan leading to the highest lake in Pakistan. Situated at an altitude of approximately 4,700 meters, Rush Lake offers panoramic views of the dramatic Karakoram’s towering grandeur, including the second-highest peak in the world, K2. Our Rush Lake Trek allows you to experience:

  • Crossing the Bualter Glacier and the Barpu Glacier.
  • Overlooking the splendours of the Karakoram including K2, Spantik Peak, Laila Peak, Ultar Sar, and more.
  • Experiencing glacier travel and alpine camping.

Brief Itinerary - Rush Lake Trek

Day 01: Islamabad - Meet and greetings with our guide and transfer to hotel.

Day 02: Gilgit and Nagar - Fly to Gilgit-Baltistan, enjoying scenic views of the mountains.

Day 03: Hopper Nagar to Berichokor Trek - Start the trek from Hoper Nagar to Berichokor, first campsite.

Day 04: Berichokor to Chidin Harai and Rush Lake - Ascent towards the Rush Lake.

Day 05: Rush Lake Free Day or Rush Pari Peak - Trek to the K2 viewpoint or Rush Pari Peak.

Day 06: Descend to Phahi Phari and Hamdar - Trek back to the valley floor and trek to Hamdar via a glacier.

Day 07: Hamadar to Hopper and Drive to Karimabad - Complete the last section of the trek to hoper Valley.

Day 08: Exploration of Gojal Valley - Explore Gojal Valley and surroundings.

Day 09: Fly back to Islamabad - Take back the scenic flight to Islamabad or Lahore.

Day 10: International Departure - Fly back with memories of Rush Lake Trek.

Detail Itinerary - Rush Lake Trek

  • Day 01 | Islamabad: Upon arrival at the airport, meet and greet with our local guides from Gilgit-Baltistan. Leave for the hotels and spend the day in leisure, gearing up for the beautiful adventure ahead.
  • Day 02 | Gilgit and Nagar: Board the scenic flight to Gilgit and witness the dramatic mountains and rugged snow-capped peaks of Northern Pakistan. After landing, meet our guide and begin the journey towards Nagar Valley by road. Begins the final preparation of the trek, gearing up to enter a dramatic landscape of glaciated terrains, ice crossings, vibrant pastures, walking over glaciers, and steep trails.
  • Day 03 | Hopper Nagar to Berichokor Trek: Embark on a memorable trek to Rush Lake from the outskirts of Hopper, a village famous for its fresh and juicy apples. Navigating through crevassed sections and unstable lateral moraines, enter the Bualtar Glacier, also known as the Hoper Glacier. Enjoy the crispy, fresh, and cold breeze drifting from the glacier. After trekking for 1 hour through the Hoper Glacier, ascend the glaciated moraine to reach the next glacier, Barpu Glacier. Completing the glacier crossings, the landscape shifts from loose moraines and glaciated terrains to lush green alpine pastures, where people from the surrounding valleys are seen busy grazing their animals. Continue the journey towards Berichokor, the first campsite of Rush Lake Trek.
  • Day 04 | Berichokor to Chidin Harai and Rush Lake: Begin the journey early in the morning before the sunlight illuminates the valley. The trail starts gaining elevation right from Berichokor and quickly becomes very steep as it climbs towards Rush Lake. After ascending the steep slope, you’re welcomed with awe-inspiring alpine pastures, snow-capped mountains in every direction, along with a clear view of the two glaciers you crossed the previous day. Continue the trek further towards Rush Lake. Upon arrival at the lake, immerse yourself in complete tranquility, marveling at the beautiful surroundings. Here you can enjoy sights of Spantik also known as Spantik, 7,027 meters high.
  • Day 05 | Rush Lake Free Day or Rush Pari Peak: Wake up early and enjoy a refreshing morning at 4,694 meters near Rush Lake. Enjoy the crispy cold breeze drifting from the snow-capped mountains. Take in the beautiful and rare sights of the sun casting its golden light over the surrounding towering peaks. After breakfast at an altitude of above 4,500 meters, where the cool mountain air makes a cup of tea more delightful, begin the trek towards Rush Pari Peak (5,098 meters) to witness stunning views of the second-highest mountain in the world, K2, along with many other Karakoram skylines. After taking pleasure in the views, making memories, and taking photos, return to Rush Lake for the night's stay.
  • Day 06 | Descend to Phahi Phari and Hamdar: Pack up your gear and take a final look at the beautiful Rush Lake before leaving for Phahi Phari. Make a gradual descent towards the valley floor while enjoying a final look at the awe-inspiring terrains of Karakoram. Proceed ahead towards the Phahi Phari and enjoy a delicious evening meal. After crossing the Miyar Glacier, arrive at Hamdar for the night’s stay.
  • Day 07 | Hamadar to Hopper and Drive to Karimabad: Continue the trek back to Hopper Valley via glaciated terrains and loose moraines. Upon arrival, take a comfortable ride towards Karimabad. Enjoy the day at leisure swiping memories of the beautiful trek which you just accomplished.
  • Day 08 | Exploration of Gojal Valley: After a well-deserved rest from the long yet rewarding journey, immerse yourself in the culture, traditions, and natural beauty of the region. Begin with gaining insights into deep-rooted traditions at Altit and Baltit, continue the journey towards Gojal, and visit the famous Attabad Lake, Gulmit, Ghulkin, Hussaini villages, and Borith Lake. Spent one last night amidst the beautiful yet dramatic mountains of Northern Pakistan.
  • Day 09 | Fly back to Islamabad: Board a flight to Islamabad or Lahore, with one last view of the magnificent mountains.
  • Day 10 | International Departure: Transfer to the hotel and board a flight back home, carrying unforgettable memories of the Rush Lake Trek.

Initial Deposit, Book Now and Pay Later: To confirm the booking an initial deposit is required which is 20 - 25 % of the tour / trek price. The remaining payment can be paid closer to the trek dates or upon arrival in Pakistan.
