Shandur Polo Festival is a unique free-style polo event and cultural exhibition which takes place at the highest polo ground in the world. Started in 1936, the festival is celebrated annually by the people of Gilgit and Chitral. During the 3-day event, a free-style polo match is played between century-old rivals, the Gilgit and Chitral teams.

Apart from the polo match, the Shandur Polo Festival offers unique cultural experiences of both regions. Tourists can enjoy the local dance performance, taste the local cuisines, and traverse through the Shandur Pass.
