Day 01 to Day 03: Skardu Valley Discovery
The thrilling journey will begin with exploring Skardu Valley. The journey will take you to the famous Sadpara Lake, the lake that is named after the famous mountaineer Muhammad Ali Sadpara, who lost his life during the K2 expedition. Explore the Manthal Buddha, the ancient sculpture of Buddha, showcasing the rich history of the region and the influence of Buddhism in the area.
You will explore the Deosai plateau, which is the second highest in the world and sits at an elevation of 4,114 meters above sea level. The verdant meadows and grassy lands of this pasture are so vast that it's not possible for the naked eye to locate where it ends. You will observe the rich biodiversity and, on a lucky day, witness the famed Himalayan brown bear.
Apart from discovering the natural beauty, you will learn the rich history and immerse yourself in the cultural delights. Explore history at Karpocho Fort, Shigar Fort, and Khaplu Fort. Indulge yourself in a thrilling adventure at Sarfaranga Desert; ride a jeep or enjoy a horseback ride. You can also choose to experience rafting in the mighty Indus River.
Each evening you will return to your local guesthouse, sharing the adventures you enjoyed with your fellow travelers.
Day 04: Marsur Rock Hiking
Begin your day with an early departure from Skardu to Hussainabad village. The Marsur Rock hike begins from the outskirts of this village and requires a 40-minute drive from Skardu. The trek begins with an ascent through gravel trails and steep rocky terrain. As you gain altitude, the journey offers stunning overlooks and panoramic views of Hussainabad, Skardu City, the mighty Indus River, the cold desert, and the surrounding mountains.
As you reach the summit, the trail takes you to the dramatic cliff jutting horizontally out of the mountain. Due to its resemblance to Norway's Trolltunga, or Troll’s Tongue, this 28 ft long cliff is known as Pakistan's Trolltunga. The rock formation and the location at an altitude of 3,737 meters provide you with a distinctive overlook of the surrounding areas and a beautiful location for photography against the backdrop of the Karakoram Mountains.
After a full-day excursion at Marsur Rock, trek the trail back to Hussainabad. The descent requires less effort and time. Drive back to Skardu Valley and retire for the day, enjoying the beautiful evening scenery. Visit our Marsur Rock Trek and learn more about the trek.
Day 05: Fly Back Home
Our driver and guide will transfer you to the airport. From there, you will board the scenic flight back to Islamabad. The Marsur Rock and Skardu Valley Tour will come to an end with unforgettable memories to take home.
