Itinerary - Kalash and Hunza Valley Tour

Day 01: Islamabad to Bumburet Kalash

Begin your Kalash and Hunza Valley Tour with a drive from Islamabad to Bumburet, the first village of the Kalasha community. Enjoy sweeping views of pristine valleys in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Enter Chitral Valley after crossing the Lawari Tunnel. Travel deeper into the remote settlements of Bumburet Valley. Drive past the lush green terraced wheat and barley fields. Upon arrival, enjoy a comfortable overnight stay at Kalasha Guesthouse.

Day 02 to Day 03: Kalash Valley Exploration

After a hearty breakfast, begin exploring the Kalash Valley. Explore traditional villages where the Kalash community live a different way of life. Watch the Kalasha people wear colorful attire, either busy performing rituals or chitchatting while sitting in the shades of their wooden houses.

Visit the Kalasha Museum, the central graveyard, and the prayer hall where the rituals of Chilam Joshi, Uchal, and Choimus festivals takes place. Walk through the narrow streets of Rumbur, the hidden gem of Kalash. Connect with the local community and indulge in the colorful festivals.

Drive to the hidden corners of Birir, Kalash’s last village. This untouched Kalasha village offers a peaceful retreat. Watch the folk dance and immerse yourself in the region’s unique cultural heritage.

Day 04: Drive to Hunza

Begin your off-the-beaten-path journey to Hunza via the winding Shandur Road. Explore the hidden corners of Chitral and Ghizer Valley. Discover the verdant meadows of Shandur that sit at an altitude of 3,738 meters. Pass through Pander, Ghizer, Gilgit, and Nagar before you arrive in Hunza. Spend the night at a local guesthouse in Hunza Valley.

Day 05 to Day 07: Discover Hunza Valley

Begin your journey exploring Hunza’s cultural heritage. Discover the lesser-known Ganish old settlement. Embrace the enriching experience at Altit and Baltit Forts. Each fort helps you connect with history. Visit the Shiqam Cottage Factory, where locals create and sell handmade local products. Discover Karimabad, where vendors sell traditional attire. Taste the mountain cuisines at Hunza Food Pavilion or Khabasi Cafe.

Away from town, hike to Duiker Viewpoint. Slow down and watch panoramic views of Hunza and Nagar Valley. See the mighty Rakaposhi, Diran, Golden, Lady Finger, and Ultar Peak.

Travel deeper to the remote corners of Hunza. Explore the traditional village of Chipursan. Step into the everyday life of the community living in the remote areas of Pakistan. Explore the meandering trails of Chipursan before returning to Hunza town.

Day 08: Drive back to Islamabad

Begin the return journey to Islamabad. Drive to Chilas, then to Besham. In Islamabad, the Kalash and Hunza Valley Tour ends, as we drop you at your hotel.
