Itinerary - Skardu Winter Tour

Day 01: Kachura Valley and Skardu City Winter Exploration

• Begin the Skardu Winter Tour with exploration of Kachura Valley. The area is famous for its crystal-clear water streams, springs, and famous lakes.
• Visit Upper and Lower Kachura Lake. You can experience boating in winter or can walk over the ice if the lake is frozen.
• Discover the Katpana Desert and make the most of the winter in Skardu while building your own snowmen.
• Experience winter evenings in Skardu around a crackling bonfire while sipping from your cup of tea.

Day 02: Sarfaranga Cold Desert and Shigar Winter Excursion

• As the new day begins, drive to Sarfaranga Cold Desert. Observe and take part in the winter jeep rally. The desert is a picture-perfect location during winter, especially when it is covered with snow.
• Drive to Shigar Fort and learn about the rich cultural legacy of the region.
• Enjoy the Balti winter delicacies at Shigar. No winter trip to Skardu is complete without having a steaming bowl of soup to beat the region's crisp weather.
• Later in the day, return to your local guesthouse for the night's stay.

Day 03: Khaplu, Manthoka Waterfall, and Ghanche winter trip

• Set off earlier for Ghanche. Following the famous Indus River, you will pass through many small hamlets of Baltistan. This administrative district of Baltistan is known as the “Kingdom of Glaciers”, due to its massive number of glaciers and towering peaks.
• You will leave the Khaplu road and turn right to explore the Manthoka Waterfall.
• Travel further to Khaplu. It will take around 4 hours to reach Ghanche.
• After a full day of exploration, retreat to your guest house and enjoy a cozy night's stay.

Day 04: Explore Khaplu and Drive to Kharmang

• Discover the region’s history at Khaplu Fort, locally known as Yabgo Khar, meaning the fort of Doqsa. This fort was built by the Yabgo dynasty in the mid-19 century. After a recent restoration by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, the fort now serves as the iconic tourist attraction in the area.
• Departure for Kharmang. Experience life in the snow-covered villages of Kharmang, including Pari, Olding, Dapa, Katisho, Mehdiabad.
• After a full day of exploration, return to Skardu City for the overnight stay.

Day 05: Fly back to your Home

• After breakfast, our team will drop you at the airport.
• Board the scenic flight from Skardu to Islamabad.
• End of Skardu Winter Tour.
