Choimus Festival Kalash
Choimus Festival Kalash is the most important winter festival of the Kalasha community. The festival features traditional music, local dance, and animal sacrifices. The event symbolizes the end of harvest season and fieldwork for the year and is especially dedicated to the Balomain spirit.
The Choimus Kalash Festival is also an event of purifying men, women, and children. The purification is performed by waving a fire over the impure, and without these rituals, they are not allowed to attend the festival. Moreover, the rituals of the Choimus Festival of Kalash are performed beneath a special tree called Indrunkot, which, according to the traditional beliefs, belongs to the Balomain brothers.
The locals believe that during the feast of this event, the Balomain spirit visits the Mythical homeland of the Kalash Valley.
