Kalash Festivals
The Kalasha community celebrates many festivals throughout the year, often referred to as the Kalash Festival. Inhabited in three main villages of Chitral, including Bumburet, Rumbur, and Birir, the Kalash community celebrate Chilam Joshi Festival upon the arrival of spring, the Uchal Festival paying homage to nature for the good harvest, and the Choimus Festival marking the end of the fieldworks or the festival dedicated especially for the Bolumain Spirit.
Apart from the three predominant festivals, another celebration is held in Birir Valley known as the Phool Festival. The event takes place in mid-October, celebrating the harvest of grapes and walnuts.
