Detailed Itinerary - Skardu and Hunza - Luxury 8 to 10 days tour.
Day 01: Fly to Skardu from Islamabad, Lahore or Karachi.
- Shangrila Resort and Lower Kachura Lake.
- Upper Kachura Lake.
- Enjoy your evening at Soq Valley.
The above locations are close to each other with an average distance of 5 to 6 km and the average drive time to reach each location is around 15 to 20 minutes or less.
Day 02: Explore Shigar valley and surrounding.
- Explore Sarfaranga Cold Desert.
- Explore Blind Lake.
- Visit the famous Shigar Fort.
Shigar valley is a bit far from Skardu city. The distance from Skardu City is around 44 km and it takes 1.5 hours to reach Shigar valley.
Day 03: Discover Skardu’s National Park, the Deosai Plains.
- Visit Manthal Buddha rock carvings.
- Enjoy your time at Sadhpara Lake.
- Explore Barapani at Deosai.
- Sheosar Lake exploration.
Deosai National Park is only accessible via 4x4 vehicles. It’s located at around 51 km from Skardu City. But due to its off-road conditions, it takes 4 hours one side to reach the top.
Day 04: Drive to Hunza valley.
- Drive toward Gilgit City.
- Pass through Nagar valley.
- Arrival at Hunza valley.
Hunza is located 283 km from Skardu and the journey to the valley takes around 5 hours. The Skardu Road has a few damaged sections, but the route from Karakoram Highway from Jaglot (where Skardu Road connects to Gilgit) onward is in good condition.
Day 05: Hunza valley exploration.
- Visit Baltit and Altit Forts.
- For local cuisine try Hunza Food Pavilion.
- Spend quality time and Altit Royal Garden.
- And enjoy the sunset at Dukier, the highest point in Central Hunza.
Altit and Baltit forts offer a chance to explore the culture of Hunza valley. These two forts are only 3 to 4 km away from each other with less than 15-minute drive between each.
Day 06: Gojal Valley tour.
- Boating at Attabad Lake.
- Visit Gulmit village, its carpet center and Ondra Poygha hike.
- Explore Hussaini village and its famous suspension bridge and zipline.
- Borith Lake and the Passu Glacier hike.
Gojal valley also called the Upper Hunza region is located at a distance of 40 km from Central Hunza and the journey takes less than 30 minutes.
Day 07: Khunjerab National Park and Pakistan – China Border visit.
- Explore Passu village and take photos with Passu Cones.
- Khunjerab National Park starts from a place called Deh.
- Activities like Ibex and Marmot spotting can be done.
Khunjerab is a high-altitude meadow of the Gojali peoples. This meadow is located at a distance of around 95 km to reach the top. The journey is bit long which takes around 3 hours one side to reach this place.
Day 08: Visit Miacher Kho and drive back to Gilgit.
- Explore Nagar valley and Minapin village along the way.
- Take a jeep ride to Miacher Kho.
Miacher offers a stunning view of Rakaposhi Peak and the glacier below. It is accessible only by a 4x4 jeep, and the ride to the top takes approximately 2 hours.
Day 09: Drop at Gilgit airport and fly back home.
