Lupghar Trek Shimshal - Overview

Lupghar Trek is a short yet rewarding adventurous journey to one of the summer pastures in Shimshal Valley. The trek is recommended for those seeking a brief adventure in the Hunza Valley. The Lupghar Pasture Trek delivers an exhilarating experience through the rugged landscape of the Karakorams. The trek allows you to take in the stunning views of some of the prominent Karakoram peaks, including the Lupghar Sar (7,200 meters), Dastaghil Sar (7,885), Mumhil Sar, and Malangutti Sar.

The Lupghar Trek begins at Dut (hanging Bridge), where the Shimshal River is crossed before ascending towards Lupghar. From Yazmis, the trail further goes deep in the dramatic canyon alongside the Lupghar Glacier. The journey then proceeds onward to Surhail and finally arrives at Gardan (neck or viewpoint), from where you can enjoy panoramic views of the valley, the Glacier and the prominent Karakoram peaks.

Dut → Yazmis → Buspurghil → Chikorin → Surhail → Gardan.

Brief Itinerary - Lupghar Trek Shimshal.

Day 01 | Arrival and Pickup from the Airport: Upon arrival at the airport, meet and greet with our local guides. Transfer to the hotel, enjoy a delicious evening meal, and explore the beautiful city of Islamabad.
Day 02 | Fly to Gilgit: Take a scenic flight to Gilgit, enjoying breathtaking aerial views of the towering peaks of Gilgit. Upon arrival, meet our guide at the airport and proceed by road to the Hunza Valley.
Day 03 | Drive to Dut and start trekking towards Yazmis: Continue the journey towards Dut, the point from where the trek begins. Enjoy a ride over the bumpy and adventurous Shimshal road. From Dut, begin trekking towards Yazmis, the first campsite of the journey, surrounded by glaciers and beautiful peaks.
Day 04 | Continue trekking towards Buspurghil: Proceed onwards to Buspurghil following the Lupghar Glacier. Hike deep into the valley while enjoying towering peaks and snow-capped mountains in every direction. Interact with the resilient local shepherds, listen to their stories.
Day 05 | Proceed towards Surhail: Continue the journey further deep into the canyon. Along the Lupghar Glacier trek to Surhail. In the Wakhi Language “Sur” means cold, and “Hail” means pasture, perfectly describing the high-altitude pastures.
Day 06 | Trek towards the Gardan (viewpoint): Complete the final section of the journey with hiking from Surhail to Gardan, in the Wakhi language, which means the viewpoint. Enjoy rare views of the Lupghar Sar, Mumhil Sar, and many other towering peaks in the valley. After soaking in the beauty of the vicinity, trek back to Buspurghil for the night’s stay.
Day 07 | Trek back to Dut and drive towards Gulmit: Return to Dut and proceed the journey by vehicle towards Gulmit village. Rest, relax, and recover from the unforgettable journey deep in the isolated Karakorams.
Day 08 | Contingency day in Hunza: Explore Hunza Valley and its surrounding destinations. Gain insights into the culture, traditions, and lifestyle of the people.
Day 09 | Fly back to Islamabad: Take a scenic flight back to Islamabad, once again marvel at the giants of the Karakoram.
Day 10 | Fly back home: Transfer to the airport. Depart for home with beautiful and unforgettable memories of the Lupghar Trek Shimshal.

Initial Deposit, Book Now and Pay Later: To confirm the booking an initial deposit is required which is 20 - 25 % of the tour / trek price. The remaining payment can be paid closer to the trek dates or upon arrival in Pakistan.
