The Thallay La Trek is an enchanting adventurous holiday that connects two beautiful valleys in Baltistan: the Shigar and Khaplu Valley. The Thallay La Trek begins from the outskirts of Khaplu. The route ascends from Balti settlements towards Thallay Broque and Dubla Khan, where you can witness the seasonal lifestyles of the local shepherds. Passing through high grazing ground filled with wild flowers, the journey arrives at Thallay La, a high-altitude ridge and pass, a natural balcony with mesmerizing view of the Karakoram skylines before descending towards Shigar Valley.

Itinerary - Thalay La Trek

  • Day 01 | Meet with our Guides: Upon arrival, meet our professional and local guides from Gilgit-Baltistan. Take a brief rest recovering from the long journey, and set off to explore Islamabad city. Drive to Daman-e-Koh and Monal to take in a panoramic view of the city. Head back to the hotel for a cozy night’s stay.
  • Day 02 | Arrival at Skardu: Experience once in a lifetime opportunity, witnessing the three greatest mountain ranges, Karakoram, Himalayas, and Hindu Kush, all at once. Meet our team and proceed to the hotel. Benefiting from the free time, explore the surroundings. Take a short hike to Karpocho Fort, acclimatizing your body with the increasing elevation. Hike back to the hotel and gear up for the Thalay La Trek.
  • Day 03 | Drive to Khaplu: Continue your journey further ahead in a 4x4 vehicle towards the Ghanche district. Along the way, visit the small hamlets of Ghanche, including Keris, Yugo, Kharfaq, and many more. Upon arrival, visit the Khaplu Palace and Fort, and learn about the region’s history at the Khaplu Museum. Spend the night at Khaplu Palace.
  • Day 04 | Drive to Thalay Valley - Trek from Thalay Broq to Dubla Khan: Pack up your gear and take a ride to Thalay Broq, the village from where the trek begins. After reaching the village, navigate through barley fields and verdant meadows before arriving at Dubla Khan. At Dubla Khan, enjoy the company of resilient local shepherds. Listen to their stories and take part in their daily routine of making butter and rounding up their animals. Enjoy a delicious meal prepared by our expert high-altitude chefs.
  • Day 05 | Continue Trekking from Dubla Khan to High Camp: Get up early in the morning and take in the fresh and crispy air blown your way by the surrounding mountains and glaciers. After taking lunch, embark on a journey towards the Thalay La High Camp (above 4000 meters).
  • Day 06 | Trek to Thalay La - Gateway to Shigar Valley: The trek for the day features emerald green meadows, glaciated streams, and interaction with local shepherds. Start your journey early in the morning before the sun warms up the temperature. The trek gradually starts gaining elevation before arriving at Thalay La Pass. As you reach the high-altitude mountain pass , the verdant pastures welcome you with wild flowers at every step. Upon arrival, the group enjoys delicious food while witnessing stunning peaks of the Masherbrum ranges and beautiful scenery in each direction. The night will be spent in camps.
  • Day 07 | Descend to Shigar Valley: Embark on the final section of the trek, where you start the downhill hike towards Shigar Valley. As you reach the valley floor, our drivers and guides will ensure your transfer back to the hotel. The rest of the time will be spent recovering from the long yet memorable trek.
  • Day 08 | Explore Shigar and drive to Skardu: Making use of the free day, explore Shigar Valley.
  • Day 09 | Back to Islamabad: After making unforgettable memories from the Thalay La Trek, say goodbye to the beautiful mountains, pastures, and untamed natural beauty, and board a flight to Islamabad.
  • Day 10 | International Departure: Board an international flight, cherishing all the good memories you made from the Thalay La Trek.

Refund Policy :The refund will be processed based on the time of cancellation and services already acquired. A certain amount will be deducted from the payment such as non-refundable amount paid to third parties or amount used in acquisition of trek permits. Read more details at refund policy.

Payments can be done via banks or via licensed and secure payment methods. Payments are also accepted via credit and debit cards.

Initial Deposit, Book Now and Pay Later: To confirm the booking an initial deposit is required which is 20 - 25 % of the tour / trek price. The remaining payment can be paid closer to the trek dates or upon arrival in Pakistan.
